No sex please, I'm surfing the net
The lure of the internet can prove very irresistible at the best of times, particularly when you are trying to avoid doing work.
However, it seems that the internet is not just an appealing distraction from certain mundane tasks; it is also viewed as one of life's essentials.

According to a new survey conducted by Intel, 65 per cent of adults in the US feel that they could not live without the internet.
Moreover, 95 per cent of respondents to the research said that they consider devices which give them access to the world wide web, such as laptops and mobile phones, to be really important.
Entitled Internet Reliance in Today's Economy, the survey was conducted by Harris Interactive on behalf of Intel.
One of the big questions asked for the survey, was "would you choose the internet over sex", and the answers may surprise some people.
The researchers found that of the 2,119 people questioned, 46 per cent of women said that they would rather go two weeks without sex than without the internet for the same period of time.
Comparably, 30 per cent of men said that they could not go without the internet for a fortnight.
Age proved to be a deciding factor when it came to making a choice between technology and physical closeness with a partner.
The Intel study found that 49 per cent of women aged 18 to 34 would rather have the internet than sex, as would 39 per cent of men in the same age group.
However, for women aged 35 to 44, this figure rose to 52 per cent.
Interestingly, the research also revealed that almost 60 per cent of those questioned would rather have access to the internet for one week than be able to watch TV for two weeks.
It seems that online information really is the way forward. |
